Kung Fu of MLOps is in the Culture! Jet is very interested in culture and architecture and looked forward to exploring this subject in this conversation. Jet is one of the OG MLOps community members. To give you an idea, he attended the first 5 meetups. We don't know how he heard of them back then, or how he has had the patience to stick around. One thing's for sure, it was great to exchange stories, especially since he's listened to so many coffee sessions and called out some episodes better than us!
In this episode
MLOps engineer, Satalia
I started my career in technology as a game designer but became interested in programming. I found I loved it. It was endlessly challenging and a deeply enjoyable "Flow" activity. It was also nice to be in demand and earn a living. I have optimised my career for learning. This meant I got involved in projects others would not touch because they are challenged. I am not covered in glory but I have learned a lot. I have been through front end and back end. I have worked on small projects and large projects, some very large. I have worked on innovation projects, enterprise grinders. I have been an engineer and a technical leader. In the last several years I have been passionate about DevOps as a key strategic practice. About a year ago I came into the AI world and it is a great place to be for someone like me. The challenges of MLOps and all the things surrounding AI delivery is a great space to work in. At about the time I got into AI the MLops community began and it was a great experience to come on the journey with Demetrios who was uncovering topics in parallel to me. It was uncanny that each week he would run a meetup that dealt with exactly the topics I had been trying to reason about. I am very interested in culture and architecture and I am looking forward to exploring this subject in conversation.
Demetrios is one of the main organizers of the MLOps community and currently resides in a small town outside Frankfurt, Germany. He is an avid traveller who taught English as a second language to see the world and learn about new cultures. Demetrios fell into the Machine Learning Operations world, and since, has interviewed the leading names around MLOps, Data Science, and ML. Since diving into the nitty-gritty of Machine Learning Operations he felt a strong calling to explore the ethical issues surrounding ML. When he is not conducting interviews you can find him making stone stacking with his daughter in the woods or playing the ukulele by the campfire.
Vishnu Rachakonda is the operations lead for the MLOps Community and co-hosts the MLOps Coffee Sessions podcast. He is a machine learning engineer at Tesseract Health, a 4Catalyzer company focused on retinal imaging. In this role, he builds machine learning models for clinical workflow augmentation and diagnostics in on-device and cloud use cases. Since studying bioengineering at Penn, Vishnu has been actively working in the fields of computational biomedicine and MLOps. In his spare time, Vishnu enjoys suspending all logic to watch Indian action movies, playing chess, and writing.
