Bringing Lambda’s Inference API to Life with the MLOps Community

Lambda x MLOps Community

Turning a Technical Challenge into a Hands-On Experience

When Lambda Labs approached the MLOps Community, they had one clear goal: to help enterprise engineers experience the power of their Inference API, not through slides or sales pitches, but by actually building with it.

The idea was simple: instead of telling people what Lambda could do, we’d show them. Together, we designed and delivered a hands-on AI Agent Masterclass that let developers build multi-agent systems connected to real-world data sources using Lambda’s API.

The Challenge: Getting Enterprise Engineers to Engage Deeply

Lambda wanted to reach a very specific audience: enterprise-level ML engineers and technical leads, people from companies like Databricks, McDonald’s, Google, and Walmart. These are the builders shaping production AI systems, and they’re notoriously hard to impress.

The challenge was twofold:

  • Make a two-hour workshop engaging for attendees with vastly different experience levels.
  • Ensure that everyone walked away not just inspired, but with working code that demonstrated Lambda’s real-world value.

Our Approach: Blending Community, Code, and Credibility

We designed the event to strike the right balance between education and experimentation.

Hosted at Microsoft Reactor in San Francisco — one of the city’s top tech hubs — the hybrid session combined live talks, guided coding, and breakout discussions. We brought in some of the biggest names in the agentic AI space:

  • Jerry Liu, CEO of LlamaIndex
  • João Moura, CEO of CrewAI
  • Moderated by Demetrios Brinkmann, MLOps Community

The format was intentionally split:

  1. First Half – Building Foundations: Participants dove into self-contained coding chapters via GitHub, learning the fundamentals of Lambda’s Inference API.
  2. Second Half – Deep Dive: Attendees built multi-agent systems that connected to internal tools like Confluence, Notion, and private PDFs — showing how Lambda could power real-world workflows in production environments.

Behind the Scenes: The Real Work That Made It Happen

What made this campaign special wasn’t just the event — it was the orchestration.

Our team worked closely with Lambda’s marketing and engineering teams to shape everything from event structure to messaging and audience targeting. We ran an organic, high-precision outreach campaign that attracted over 800 sign-ups from engineers worldwide, all without paid advertising.

From that list, we curated a select group of 200 top-tier attendees, representing major enterprises and fast-moving AI-native startups.

The event wasn’t just full — it was full of the right people.

And that mattered. As one attendee later commented on LinkedIn, “I didn’t know Lambda was this fast — this really changed how I think about their infrastructure.”

The Results: Real Impact, Real Relationships

For Lambda, the event did more than just boost brand visibility — it gave them:

  • Direct engagement with enterprise engineers who use and influence purchasing decisions.
  • Authentic product validation, as developers experienced Lambda’s speed and scalability firsthand.
  • Ongoing momentum, with Lambda later referencing the workshop in board meetings and planning follow-up sessions in multiple cities.

Perhaps most importantly, it positioned Lambda as a developer-first company that isn’t afraid to open the hood and let the community test-drive their technology.

Key Takeaways

  • Audience precision matters: targeting enterprise practitioners, not just enthusiasts, made all the difference.
  • Experience beats explanation: giving people the tools and space to build is the best form of marketing.
  • Community drives credibility: having trusted figures like Jerry Liu and João Moura on stage elevated trust instantly.

Looking Ahead

Following the success of the San Francisco workshop, Lambda and the MLOps Community are planning to take the AI Agent Masterclass on the road — with upcoming sessions in New York, London, and Singapore.

Each event will build on the same foundation: creating spaces where engineers don’t just hear about innovation — they build it, together.
